Former Tennessee football coach Jeremy Pruitt, penalized by the NCAA, is now off the coaching radar.

Pruitt has been out of the coaching sphere since being fired in 2020 due to violations within the program. After investigations revealed that he and several members of the football staff provided impermissible benefits to recruits and their families, Pruitt was let go by the university. He faced penalties from the NCAA, including a six-year show-cause penalty and a one-year suspension.

Since leaving Tennessee, Pruitt briefly joined the New York Giants as a senior defensive assistant in 2021. However, he was not retained after the season. During an appearance on the Make Defense Great Again podcast, Pruitt mentioned the possibility of taking a coaching sabbatical in 2022.

There were rumors that Pruitt could potentially join the Alabama Crimson Tide as the defensive coordinator, but the ongoing investigation into the violations at Tennessee may have affected his chances.

Currently, Pruitt has been keeping a low profile and is not active on social media. The severity of the NCAA investigation has made it challenging for him to find coaching opportunities. It remains unclear when or if he will return to the coaching sphere.

The future for Pruitt is uncertain, but there have been instances where coaches, such as Rick Pitino in basketball, have made comebacks to collegiate coaching after facing heavy NCAA sanctions. While Pruitt has proven himself as an outstanding defensive coordinator, his track record as a head coach raises questions about his prospects.

Only time will tell if Jeremy Pruitt will have the opportunity to make a comeback in the coaching world. For now, he remains off the coaching radar, and his next steps remain unknown.
