Edward, or Ed, recognised himself as a demonologist, while Lorraine saw herself as a trance and clairvoyant medium, who worked closely with her husband. The pair got married in 1945, and they together have a daughter named Judy.

In 1952, the Warrens established the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR). They wrote many books about paranormal activities and about their investigations. Warrens said that the NESPR comprised various individuals across various fields such as researchers, medical doctors, nurses, police officers, students and members of the clergy for investigations.
