R Kelly, the
R&B singer convicted on sex trafficking charges, is engaged to Joycelyn
Savage, according to court documents. Kelly, 55, has been convicted of
racketeering and sex trafficking and sentenced to 30 years in jail. Savage’s
letter to the judge begins with expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to
express herself in court.

“My relationship
with Robert is amazing. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. We have
a very special connection and are deeply in love. I still support Robert to
this day because I love him and will always be here to support him. Robert is
not the monster that the government has described him to be,” says Savage.

R Kelly has three
children Joann Kelly, Jay Kelly and Robert Kelly Jr. Jay Kelly is the eldest
daughter. Joann Kelly is the daughter of R Kelly and his ex-wife Andrea. A
musician, Joann Kelly performs under the name Buku Abi.

Jay Kelly, also
known as Jaah Kelly, is Robert Kelly’s second child. Jay Kelly too is a singer
and composer. In 2014, Jay Kelly “came out” as transgender.

Robert Kelly Jr.,
R Kelly’s second son, is a basketball player. He is the son for Robert Kelly
and Andrea Lee.

R Kelly has had a
chequered life. In 1994, Kelly married 15-year-old singer Aaliyah in a secret
ceremony. The marriage was annulled in February 1995. In 1996, Tiffany Hawkins,
sued R Kelly for “personal injuries and emotional distress.” Hawkins was
reportedly 15 when R Kelly was 24 years old.

Five years later,
in 2001, Tracy Sampson sued Kelly for initiating “an indecent sexual relationship”
with her when she was 17 years old. Kelly allegedly treated Sampson as “his
personal sex object” and cast aside. The case was settled out of court for an
undisclosed sum of money.

The very next
year, two other women sued Kelly and both cases were settled out of court.
