Aimee Lou Wood is an English actress, model, and stage artist. She is playing the role of Margaret Wood in Oliver Hermanus’ Living. This British drama is up for a premiere on November 6th, 2022 as part of the American Film Institute (AFI) Fest in LA, California after having made its first screening at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.

The British drama, starring Bill Nighy, Alex Sharp, and Tom Burke alongside Aimee Lou Wood has been adapted from the 1952 Japanese classic Ikiru directed by legendary perfectionist filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. The film is adapted by Kazuo Ishiguro from the 1886 Russian novella The Death of Ivan Ilyich written by Leo Tolstoy. Based in 1953 London, the film showcases a bureaucrat (played by Nighy) who is diagnosed with a fatal illness.

Who is Aimee Lou Wood?

Aimee Lou Wood was born on February 3rd, 1995 in Stockport, Greater Manchester. She hails from an upper-middle-class Christian family in Britain and has a sister named Emily Wood.

She attended Cheadle Hulme School following her parent’s divorce and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in acting from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, England in 2017.

The actress performed roles on stage in Mary Stuart (2016-2017) and People, Places and Things (2017) before making her on-screen debut with the role of Aimee Gibbs in the Netflix series Sex Education (2019-present). Featuring as one of the leads on the show, Wood bagged a British Academy Television Award for the Best Female Comedy Performance for her role in 2021. Even during her screen work, Wood has continued to take up theatre roles. After starring in the 2021 biographical comedy-drama The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, she is all set for the AFI Fest premiere of her 2022 starrer Living.
