Actor Akhil Iyer has objected to the use of his image for the Karnataka Congress‘s ‘PayCM’ campaign posters. According to Iyer, his photo was used without his permission. The actor tweeted the image of the poster saying,” I am appalled to see that my face is being used illegally and without my consent for “40% Sarkara” – an @INCIndia campaign that i have nothing to do with.

I will be taking legal action against this. ” He also tagged Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Congress in the post and asked them to look into the matter.

Who is Akhil Iyer?

Akhil Iyer is an Indian actor. He mostly has worked in TV commercials, but has also acted in Hindi and Tamil language films. He most recently played the role of Rohit Rao in the Hindi-language, action thriller HIT: The First Case.

Iyer was born on October 1987 in Bengaluru, His mother, Asha Iyer is a gynaecologist, and his father Ram Iyer is an orthopaedic physician. He also has a sibling. The actor attended St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School in Bangalore, where he also participated in zonal cricket competitions. Akhil later completed his higher education at the P.E.S. Institute of Technology in Bangalore, majoring in computer science and engineering.

Akhil pursued his love of performing while residing in Bangalore, working with theatre companies including Dramanon and Artists Repertoire Theatre till 2011. He then relocated to Chennai, where he acted in two Tamil films Iruvar Ondranal and Nijama Nizhala, which were released in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Akhil then relocated to Mumbai in 2013 after signing Lekar Hum Deewana Dil.

After relocating to Mumbai, Iyer made his Bollywood debut in the film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil in 2014. Armaan Jain, the cousin of Ranbir Kapoor, made his Bollywood debut in the movie as well.  The 34-year-old also appeared in Kabir Khan’s web series The Forgotten Army- Azaadi ke Liye, which was released in 2020.
