Former kickboxer Andrew Tate was banned from Facebook and Instagram for violating its policies, media reports announced Aug. 19, 2022.

Tate, who had over 4.6 million followers on Instagram, gained popularity after being fired from the reality TV programme Big Brother due to a video that allegedly showed him assaulting a woman.

Following the ban, the 35-year-old issued a statement saying that he was innocent and was being targeted by the media and hate mobs.

Who is Andrew Tate?

Tate, whose full name is Emory Andrew Tate III, was born December 14, 1986. He is an American-British social media influencer and former professional kickboxer.

After his kickboxing career ended, he made a move to influencer marketing. He was surrounded with controversies due to his misogynistic statements on topics such as sexual assault. 

His statements resulted in a Twitter ban.

He was at the center of a legal investigation involving human trafficking and rape allegations.

Tate was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Luton, England. He is the son of Emory Tate, an African-American chess International Master. His mother worked as a catering assistant.

In 2009, he was reportedly employed in selling television advertising. He began practicing boxing and martial arts on the since 2005. He won the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) Full Contact Cruiserweight championship in Derby, England, on his first year.He had won 17 of his 19 fights.

Tate won his first ISKA world title in a rematch against Jean-Luc Benoit via knockout.

In 2013, he won his second ISKA world title in a 12-round match, which was held in Châteaurenard, France.
