Jonathan Nolan, one of the co-creators of the popular HBO series Westworld, made headlines on Friday, November 4, when the show was cancelled. The Primetime Emmy-winning series completed its fourth season earlier in 2022 and Nolan had said in October that he expects it to return with the fifth season.

Westworld’s cancellation is part of HBO’s attempt to decrease the company’s expense by $3.5 billion in the next three years, following its merger with Warner Bros Discovery. The sci-fi series was popular around the world but was witnessing falling ratings and an upward spike in production costs in the last few seasons.
