Wednesday, a coming-of-age supernatural horror comedy television series, will premiere on its namesake day, November 23, 2022. The Netflix series is based on Charles Addams’ cartoon The Addams Family.

While Jenna Ortega, best known for her roles in Jane the Virgin, Stuck in the Middle, You, and The Fallout, to name a few, will play the titular character, Catherine Zeta-Jones will play her mother, Morticia Addams.

Gomez Addams, Morticia’s husband and Wednesday’s father, will be played by Luis Guzmán.

Who is Luis Guzmán?

Guzman, who was born on August 28, 1956, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, was brought up in Greenwich Village, New York City, by his mother Rosa, a hospital employee, and his stepfather Benjamin Cardona, a TV repairman.

The social worker and graduate of American University worked as an actor during the day before getting involved in independent films and street theatre.

Guzman has had several notable performances during his four-decade career. The character actor has appeared in a number of high-profile films, including Oz, Boogie Nights (1997), Magnolia (1999), Punch-Drunk Love (2002), Out of Sight (1998), The Limey (1999), Narcos, and Code Black.

Guzmán currently resides in Cabot, Vermont. Guzmán supported Senator Bernie Sanders for President of the United States in the 2016 presidential election.

Guzmán and New York Yankees all-star Bernie Williams appeared in a season six episode of Jon Taffer’s Bar Rescue in 2018, offering assistance not only to the El Krajo Tavern in Loiza, but also to the town’s community center, which had been destroyed by Hurricane Maria.

During Telegramgate, Guzmán was interviewed by MSNBC about the situation in Puerto Rico, and he stated that ‘Ricky had to go’ and that corruption was a major issue that he hoped would be resolved.

Guzman recently made an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, where he admitted that he was unaware of the series and that Tim Burton had considered casting him in the part of Gomez.

Guzman’s net worth is thought to be in the neighbourhood of $13 million. He resides on a 337-acre estate in Sutton, Vermont, with his wife Angelita Galarza and their five children.
