American singer Miguel’s wife Nazanin Mandi has filed for divorce.

Mandi, 36, filed the documents in the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County on Tuesday citing irreconcilable differences, according to TMZ.

Her decision comes over a year after she and Miguel announced their separation in September 2021. However, in February, Miguel shared some photos with Mandi on Instagram, giving rise to speculation that the two may have got back together.

Who is Miguel?

Miguel is one of two sons of an African American mother and a Mexican American father. His parents divorced when he was 8 years old.

Raised in San Pedro, California, Miguel began pursuing a music career at age 13. He signed with Jive Records in 2007 following which he released his debut studio album, All I Want Is You, in November 2010.

After Jive’s dissolution in 2011, he moved to RCA Records and released his second studio album, Kaleidoscope Dream, in 2012.

In June 2015, Miguel released his third album, Wildheart, which received critical acclaim. His fourth studio album War & Leisure was released in 2017. 

He identifies himself as part of the new wave of R&B artists, which includes Frank Ocean, The Weeknd and Elle Varner.

Miguel sang a duet of Remember Me with Natalia Lafourcade on the soundtrack of Disney Pixar’s movie Coco.

Miguel got into a relationship with model Nazanin Mandi in 2005. In January 2016, the two announced their engaged. They got married on November 24, 2018, at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Santa Susana, California. On September 27, 2021, Miguel and Mandi announced their separation.

In 2017, Miguel was accused of sexual assault by Xian Bass, a fan of his music. The singer denied the accusation, calling it “bizarre” and “twisted.” He also said that Bass’ story of what transpired was not accurate.
