Ryan Koss, the driver who crashed his car into actor Treat Williams’ motorcycle, causing his death, was charged with negligence on Tuesday, 2 months after the actor’s death.

Koss surrendered to Vermont State Police on Tuesday and was issued a citation, which charged him with grossly negligent operation with death after he swerved his car into the path of the actor.

Williams, Everwood and Hair actor, passed away at the age of 71 following a motorbike accident.

According to Daily Mail, Williams was conscious and alert enough to answer the questions from paramedics as he was laying on the pavement after being thrown from impact. Matt Rapphahn, the owner of Long Trail Auto on Route 30, who witnessed the crash, said, “He was totally alert, answering questions.”

Who is Ryan Koss?

Ryan Koss was driving his Honda Element SUV on Route 30. He turned into the auto shop parking lot when his vehicle collided with Williams’ motorcycle. Koss reportedly had an appointment at the autobody repair shop to get a state inspection sticker.

Williams and Koss knew each other from back in the day when he worked at the theater where Williams once performed American Buffalo.

Presently, he is employed at the Dorset Playhouse Theater in Dorset, Vermont.

Koss also received medical attention at the site of the crash for minor injuries. He was not taken to the hospital for further treatment and has not been arrested for the crash by officers. A probe into the collision is presently being conducted.

Koss was not in an intoxicated state when the crash took place. According to the police report, “Williams was unable to void a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle.”

Koss’s car sustained minor damage to the front end passenger side. On the other hand, Williams’ 1986 Honda VT700c motorcycle had “front-end damage.” After Koss’ accident, his husband pulled into the shop’s lot in another car to pick him up.
