The trailer for the film ‘Sadak 2’ starring Alia Bhat and
Sanjay Dutt, released on Wednesday morning and has already received over 5 million
dislikes within 24 hours. It has become the most disliked movie trailer on YouTube and is currently the seventh on the list of the most liked videos on the platform, according to reports.
Within hours of its release, angry fans stormed the trailer posted
by FoxStarHindi with dislikes and comments condemning nepotism in the Bollywood
film industry and in support of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Caught amidst the controversy, the trailer also started trending
at number 1 on YouTube. Fans of Sushant Singh Rajput had announced that they
were waiting for the trailer release only so they could dislike it.
When filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt had announced the film, critics
had taken to social media to express discontent and anger through hashtags like
#BoycottSadak2, relating Sushant’s sudden death to nepotism in the industry.
The film also stars Mahesh Bhatt’s elder daughter Pooja
Bhatt and actor Aditya Roy Kapoor. The film trailer, which has been viewed by over 17 million people, has only 290k likes and
over 5 million dislikes.
Since the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the debate around
nepotism in the Bollywood film industry emerged again with fans criticising celeb kids and various other famous Bollywood personalities. Many celebrities too
have linked Sushant’s death to nepotism in Bollywood.
The film will be released on August 28 on Disney+ Hotstar.
