Bollywood‘s not-so-bad ‘bad boy’ Gulshan Grover recently talked about the time he lost the opportunity to be cast as the villain in the James Bond film ‘Casino Royale’ starring Daniel Craig because the news was leaked before the official announcement.

In an interview with Rediff, Gulshan revisited the time when he lost the important role and obviously, an opportunity to work with a legend like Daniel Craig as some reporter leaked the news before the announcement.

Gulshan told Rediff that the news was leaked by a reporter friend of his to whom the actor had spoken about the role in a moment of excitement.

The actor further revealed that during his meeting with Prince Charles in 2005, the Royal Highness’ cousin asked him to confirm if he was really going to appear in the next James Bond film after this he realized that the British Tabloid Daily Mirror had already disclosed the news.

“That’s how the Royals and the rest of the world came to know about the news,” said Grover.

Grover further added that the news before the official announcement made the James Bond producers angry and that they decided to replace him with someone else.

“Unfortunately, it appeared before a formal announcement was made. That upset the producers, who replaced me with Mads Mikkelsen,” Gulshan told in the interview.

The role of the villain in ‘Casino Royale’ was later played by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen. 

‘Casino Royale’ was the 21st movie in the James Bond series film that was released in 2006. It was the third screen adaptation of Ian
Fleming’s 1953 novel of the same name.

The film was directed by Martin Campbell and written
by Neil Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis, it is the first film to star
Daniel Craig as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond.

While Gulshan Grover is a prominent Bollywood actor. He is known for playing antagonistic characters and thus is often termed as the ‘Bad Man’ of the Indian entertainment industry. 

Grover started his career in 1980 and starred in over 400 films in his career.
