Will Smith has posted a video on Instagram for the first time since his apology for slapping comedian Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. The actor put up a metaphorical video indicating that he’s trying to return to social media.

The video shows a tiny chimp irritating a gorilla and then getting out of its way. The caption in the video reads “Me trying to get back on social”.

Smith has apologized numerous times for the outburst, where he went up on stage and slapped Rock for making a joke about the King Richard actor’s wife, Jada-Pinkett, who suffers from alopecia. While the initial reaction seemed to support Smith’s actions, the tides have turned since then, with the Academy also banning the actor from attending future events.

However, Smith’s fears that social media might not welcome him seem to be unfounded since his latest video has garnered a warm response with some stating that he’d be welcomed back, while others assured Smith that the “animal kingdom” is with him.

Recently, Smith had said that he was ready to reach out to Rock about what had gone down between the two of them, but the comedian was hurting and it’d take time for the two to reconcile.

Rock had said Jada could be in the next GI Jane movie while emceeing at the Oscars. This was a reference to the Demi Moore film where she plays a woman training to be a SEAL. The Striptease actor shaves off her hair to fit in with the males in her unit, and Rock’s joke was aimed at Pinkett Smith because of her current hair. Smith not only slapped Rock but asked him to keep Pinkett Smith’s name out of the comedian’s mouth.
