Entering the third full week of Joe Biden’s presidency in the US which has been crippled with the coronavirus pandemic, the President’s administration has said it is seeing the first signs of improvement, however, officials say they are still far from celebrating.

The pace of immunisation against COVID-19 is increasing, the rate of new cases of infections have been dropping while mass vaccination sites continue to pop up from New York to Las Vegas, reports CNN.

As Biden took over the White House, his adminitration inked new deals with the vaccine suppliers, which have already been distributing the shots in the US. Biden administration has given states a clear estimate of how many shots of COVID-19 vaccine they will receive, something which former president Donald Trump did not do for months.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration has also invested federal resources to help set up large-scale vaccination sites across the nation.

However, officials have said that they are in a critical period, as it is a “daunting challenge.”

Talking to CNN, Andy Slavitt, senior adviser to the White House said, “I think we are making progress every day.”

“In terms of what we inherited, you play the hand you have, not the hand you wish you had,” Slavitt said.

The emergence of the new coronavirus variants and people in the US coming together to celebrate the Super Bowl can again lead to rise in COVID-19 cases in Americans as the vaccine is still not available to all in the nations. Meanwhile, Biden is hoping to implement a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package that is still to be passed by Congress. Ak

Telling about the progress made by the Biden administration in the COVID-19 pandemic, a senior scholar with the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, Dr Eric Toner said, “Every direction I can see, where they have a move, they’re making it,” reports CNN.

Praising the efforts by the Biden administration, Toner noted that the problems are going to “take months” to solve.
