Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday proposed ‘Mission Poshan 2.0’, which will be launched after merging the ‘Poshan Abhiyan’ and the Supplementary Nutrition Programme, as part of the Union Budget for the financial year 2021-22.

The scheme aims to improve nutritional content, delivery, outreach and outcome, according to PTI.

“To strengthen nutritional content, delivery, outreach, and outcome, we will merge the Supplementary Nutrition Programme and the Poshan Abhiyaan and launch the Mission Poshan 2.0. We shall adopt an intensified strategy to improve nutritional outcomes across 112 aspirational districts,” Sitharaman said during her Budget speech in the Lok Sabha.

She announced that a total of Rs 24,435 crore has been allocated to the Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD), out of which Rs 20,105 crore is earmarked for the Saksham Anganwadi and the Poshan 2,0 schemes. 

Poshan 2.0 scheme in an umbrella scheme covering the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Anganwadi Services, Poshan Abhiyaan, Scheme For Adolescent Girls and the National Creche Scheme.
