Grimmway Farms is voluntarily recalling select carrot products sold at grocery stores across the country for possible salmonella contamination. The recall includes six products that are sold under the brand names of Bunny Luv, Cal-Organic, O Organics, and Grimmway Farm’s own brand.

The company said the recall was initiated as a result of a routine internal test and so far no illnesses have been linked to the recall to date. All the retail products recalled have a nine-character lot code beginning with 195, 196, or 197 and ends with BF or SP.

Grimmway vice president of government and public affairs, Dana Brennan said in the statement to USA TODAY that the company doesn’t distribute directly to stores but to distribution centers, and for that reason, out of an abundance of caution,  they are making this a nationwide recall.

In addition to the recalled items sold at retail stores, the company said that it has also recalled certain shredded carrots and chopped carrots that went to food manufacturers and foodservice distributors. Consumers who have recalled the product in their possession should not consume it and should destroy or discard it.
