A tornado is heading towards Illinois and locals are being asked to stay at home at this point. FOX Illinois’ Darren Leeds reports that a warning has been issued regarding the same and that the same will stay into effect until 4:45 PM CST.

The tornado was first spotted north of Mount Auburn
The National Weather Service for Lincoln, Illinois, has said that the warning has been issued for Maroa, Latham, and Kenney.
The confirmed tornado was spotted at 3:52 p.m. across primarily rural Sangamon and Logan Counties, moving northeast at 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Around 410 PM CST, the tornado will be in the area of Latham. Warrensburg is one of the other places this tornadic thunderstorm will hit.
Here are the places where the tornado warning has been extended to 5:15 PM in Illinois:
1. central DeWitt County
2. southeastern Logan County until 5:15 p.m.
3. north central Christian County until 5 p.m.
What should you do when a tornado warning is issued?
According to the CDC’s official website, the most important thing one needs to do when a tornado warning has been issued is to be indoors and try and get to the safest room in the building or house.
If have a basement, go there along with the kids and the pets, and tune into a TV channel or radio station in case the internet is not readily available, and be up to date with the weather updates.

If on a vehicle, try to get off it as soon as possible and look for shelter.
People in schools or colleges should follow the tornado drill. If someone lives in a mobile home, it is advisable to seek shelter in a building.
