India on Friday recorded 1,45,384 new cases of COVID-19, the Union Health Ministry released on Saturday showed. 794 people died of the disease in the past 24 hours. With the new cases, the country’s total tally has reached 13,205,926 that includes 168,436 people who’ve died.

There are 1,046,631 active cases in the country, while 11,990,859 have recovered.

255,214,803 samples have been tested for the novel coronavirus till April 9, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said. This includes 1,173,219 samples tested on Friday.

India started its coronavirus vaccination drive on January 16 and its four phases have since been launched. 

98,075,160 people have received at least one dose of either of the two vaccines approved by India.

Indigenous vaccine Covaxin and AstraZeneca/Oxford’s jab, which is being produced at Pune’s Serum Institute, are the COVID-19 vaccines approved in the country.
