Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s office on Tuesday issued a statement on the mysterious illness found in Eluru, ANI reported. “Lead and nickel were found in blood samples of patients” in an investigation carried out by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) team.
Tests are being run by the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, results for which are awaited, the statement read.
The CM has directed the officials to be vigilant and conduct all the possible tests to find the actual cause of the disease that claimed a life.
A 45-year old man died of the mystery illness on Sunday. Over 450 people were reported of being ill with the disease.
The CM has told the authorities to enquire how lead and nickel entered into the blood of the patients. He has instructed officials to submit a detailed report on the illness, the tests being conducted and the treatment being offered along with reports of tests conducted on milk and water, the CMO’s statement read.
