The Maharashtra government on Tuesday imposed a 15-day curfew starting from April 14, saying the “war against coronavirus has begun again.” The move comes after Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 60,212 new coronavirus cases and 281 fatalities. While people will not be allowed to move in public places unless they have a valid reason, there are many essential services that are exempted from the new restrictions.

Here’s what will be considered a part of essential services in Maharashtra:

1. Hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres, vaccinations, medical insurance offices, pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, other health services. Manufacturing and distribution of vaccines, sanitisers, masks, medical equipment, ancillaries, raw material units and support services come under essential services.

2. Groceries, fruit and vegetable shops, dairies, bakeries and confectionaries, all types of food shops.

3. Veterinary services, animal care shelters and pet shops.

4. Public transport, including aeroplanes, trains, taxis, autos and public buses.

5. Cold storage and warehousing services.

6. Offices of central, state and local governments.

7. Services related to the functioning of offices of Diplomats of various countries.

8. Pre-monsoon activities by local authorities.

9. Services designated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

10. All offices recognised by SEBI such as Stock Exchange, depositories, etc. 

11. Telecom related services.

12. Water supply services.

15. Export-import of all commodities.

16. Accredited media.

17. Postal services.

18. ATMs.

19. E-commerce only for essential goods and services.

20. All cargo services.

21. Electricity and gas services.

22. Units producing and manufacturing packaging material for any essential service.

23. Any service designated as an essential service by the local disaster management authority.
