A day after resigning from the Trinamool Congress, Diamond Harbour MLA
Dipak Haldar has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, PTI
reported.

Haldar joined the BJP in presence of party leaders Mukul Roy and Suvendhu Adhikari at West
Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district.

Haldar quit the Trinamool Congress accusing the TMC leadership of not
allowing him to work for the people.

“I am a two-time MLA. But, since 2017, I am not allowed to work
properly for the masses. No action has been taken despite informing the party
and I am not given any information on TMC programmes.” PTI quoted Haldar
as saying.

He had skipped a recent public rally by Mamata Banerjee, raising
speculation about his political aspirations.

Haldar is the most recent Trinamool Congress MLA to join the list of turncoats ahead
of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021. Others who left include Suvendhu
Adhikari, Rajib Banerjee.

Haldar has been quite vocal about his discontentment with the TMC
leadership since the last two months. He was closely associated with the now
BJP leader Sovan Chatterjee. Chatterjee had left TMC in August 2019 to join
BJP.
