Alankrita Sahai, model-turned-Bollywood actor, was robbed at knifepoint at her rented residence in Chandigarh’s Sector 27 on Tuesday. According to reports, three masked persons forcibly entered her home situated on the second floor of a three-storey building around 12.30 pm.

Ketan Bansal, SP (City) was quoted by indianexpress.com as saying, “The victim belongs to the film industry. She was alone in the house. The entry door was opened. The robbers forcibly entered and robbed the victim at knife point. We have registered a case and have important leads.”

Sahai had ordered some furniture, which was brought by some delivery men earlier in the day. Quoting sources, the website reported that the actor suspects one of the robbers had visited her home at the time of delivery of furniture. She also told the police that one of the three robbers took her ATM card and returned after withdrawing Rs 50,000. By that time, two others kept a watch on her.

According to The Tribune, Sahai pushed a suspect and locked herself in a room. The suspects then tried to enter the room through a window. She then locked herself in the washroom. The attackers tried to break the exhaust fan of the washroom. Fearing for her life, the victim threw Rs 6 lakh out of the room after which the suspects escaped by jumping from the balcony, the newspaper adds.

They first landed on the first-floor balcony and then to the ground floor before running away. Sources said suspects were caught on the CCTV cameras installed in the locality.

Sahai is a beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss India Earth 2014. She is the first Indian to win 7 titles at the Miss Earth pageant held in the Philippines. She made her acting debut in 2018 with the Netflix romantic comedy film ]Love per Square Foot’. The same year, she also featured in the film ‘Namaste England’.
