Actor Rajinikanth, who had pulled out of politics in December 2020 citing ill health, on Monday said, “I don’t have plans to enter politics in future.” The bus conductor-turned actor-turned politician also dissolved his outfit Rajini Makkal Mandram, ending weeks of speculation over his possible re-entry into politics.

Earlier in the morning, social media was abuzz with speculation after the 70-year-old actor said that he would discuss with the office bearers of his party whether he will enter politics or not in the future.

The actor had floated his political party in the run-up to the assembly elections in 2020 but soon decided to opt-out following a health scare, which he called a ‘warning from God’.

The actor, who returned from America after a health check-up a few days ago told reporters: “Should the Makkal Mandram be continued and if so, what will be its functions and these are questions among the functionaries and fans.

After the actor abandoned his political agenda in December last,  several functionaries quit had joined other political parties including the DMK.
