Terrorist outfit Al-Badre’s chief Ganie Khwaja was killed in an encounter in Tujjar area of Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday, reported ANI, quoting IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.

Incriminating materials that includes arms and ammunition were recovered during the encounter while the police and army continue the searching process.

According to PTI, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area after receiving  information about presence of militants there.

However,  the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire on the security forces.

Earlier in February, Jammu Police had thwarted a plot by Al Badre of targetting Raghunath Temple on the second anniversary of the Pulwama bombing, according to Times Now.

Jammu Inspector General of Police (IG), Mukesh Singh told Times Now, “We were on high alert as we had inputs that terror groups were planning an attack on the anniversary of Pulwama attack. We had information that this time the attack will be in Jammu city. Last night we arrested a person named Sohail and recovered 6-6.5 kilograms of IED from his possession. The IED was not activated.”
