The German automakers are finally ready to launch the long-awaited Mercedes-Benz EQC, an all-electric luxury SUV, in India on October 8, 2020.

Mercedes had originally planned to launch EQC in April but the COVID-19 outbreak delayed the launch. Nonetheless, the EQC will go on sale in India next month, making it the only all-electric premium SUV in the country.

The new EQC will be sold under the company’s electric vehicle (EV) brand EQ, following its launch in India, in January 2020.

Although the EQC has the signature Mercedes-Benz SUV silhouette, the styling is very different and the new face helps the car stand out.

The EQC gets a large black panel multi-slat grille flanked by large LED headlamps and LED daytime running lamps. While the rear section comes with sleek wraparound LED taillamps connected by an LED strip.

The large alloy wheels also come with conspicuous blue accents, however, the cabin, at the same time, gets a minimalist design, with a TFT screen for instrument panel, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with MBUX interface, along with a multi-functional steering wheel and a signature centre console with the trackpad.

Mercedes-Benz EQC has four driving modes — Eco, Comfort, Max Range, Sport, and Individual.

The new SUV comes powered with an 80 kWh lithium-ion battery — capable of providing a driving range of 450 – 471 km per when fully charged.

Coupled with the two asynchronous electric motors (positioned at the front and rear axle) the ECQ can generate a cumulative power of 402 bhp with 765 Nm of peak torque.

The all-electric SUV can go from zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 180 km/h.

Mercedes have been all tight-lipped about the price range of the new addition to their family.
