Jeff Bezos, Amazon CEO and the world’s
richest person with a net worth of $187 billion, is all set be the
first billionaire to go to space – aboard a rocket that he has spent millions into developing. The 57-year-old is scheduled to launch into space on
July 20, 15 days after he resigns from his position at Amazon. Bezos will be aboard the first crewed flight of the New Shepard, which is a rocket ship made by his company, Blue Origin.

confirmed that they will be offering one seat to the winner of an auction that is currently in progress. The online auction will end on June 12 and currently, has a total bid of $2,800,000.

Jeff’s brother, Mark Bezos, will be accompanying him on the
flight. Bezos announced the news on Instagram and said. “Ever since I was
five years old, I have dreamed of traveling to space. On July 20th, I will take
that journey with my brother. The greatest adventure, with my best
friend.”

Blue Origin said
that the six-seater capsule will blast off towards the edge of space, and it
will be an 11-minute flight that will travel above 60 miles off the surface of Earth.
