Anand Mahindra, chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra Group promised a few young players, including Shardul Thakur and T Natarajan, that he will gift them Mahindra Thar, the latest jeep car of the company as a goodwill gesture for their performance in the Gabba Test series earlier in Australia. 

Indian bowlers T Natarajan and Shardul Thakur received their Mahindra car recently and the cricketers took the moment to their Twitter account and appreciated the Mahindra chief’s gesture. Other than the two bowlers, Mohammad Siraj, Washington Sundar, Shubman Gill and Navdeep Saini will receive the SUV.

T Natarajan took two wickets in the first innings of the match as he played his second Test match of his career, while Navdeep Saini and Shardul Thakur also played their second matches, Washington Sundar made his debut in the Test career with the series.

The Gabba Test win from January this year, is arguably one of the biggest Test series victories in the history of Indian cricket. The team got all out in the series opener for just 36 runs and were on the losing side with 1-0 against Australia. But, they made a comeback by winning the four-match series with 2-1.

The win became an important chapter in the history because India went on the field with a depleted, injured and a young team with inexperienced players, some who even made their debut with the Tests. India won the Gabba Test series in Australia after 1988.
