The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Sunday won the urban body elections in Andhra Pradesh, winning 74 out of 75 municipalities, reports ANI. Counting of votes for 11 municipal corporations and 70 municipalities in Andhra Pradesh was held on Sunday. The counting began at 8 am. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress had won 36 municipalities till 11 am.

Polling for all the seats took place on March 10 with 78.71 lakh eligible voters, according to media reports. 

Counting for Chilakaluripet and Eluru has been put on hold following an order of the High Court. The counting will be conducted only after the final verdict by the court.

Guntur, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam were the major corporations this election. 

4,026 tables, including 2,204 tables for corporations and 1,822 tables for municipalities have been arranged for the counting of votes, according to The Financial Express.

A total of 20,419 police personnel were deployed to tighten the security at the counting centres. The State Election Commission has deployed 5,195 staff, 2,376 counting supervisors, 7,412 staff in corporations and 1,941 supervisors in municipalities for counting the votes, as per the report.
