One army personnel was killed on Saturday after Pakistan violated the ceasefire in the Naugam sector of Kupwara sector, news agency ANI reported. Two other army personnel were injured in the ceasefire violation, ANI reported. 

Defence spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia confirmed that the incident took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s frontier Kupwara district after Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC). 

Indian Army sources told ANI that Pakistan fired medium motor shells. The injured jawans were evacuated to the 92 Base Hospital here and their condition is stable, defence spokesman Kalia said.

“Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation (CFV) along the Line of Control in Naugam sector of Kupwara in the morning by firing mortars and other weapons,” Col Kalia said. He added that a fitting response was given to Pakistan for its aggression.
