The Bombay High
Court will hear Aryan Khan’s plea for bail on Tuesday after a special NDPS (Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) court rejected his bail plea on October 20.
Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested on October
3 after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided a cruise ship off the Mumbai
coast which allegedly contained drugs on board. Aryan Khan has been in judicial
custody since October 8. The NDPS court extended his judicial review till
October 30.

Mukul Rohatgi
to step in as counsel

Former Attorney
General of India Mukul Rohatgi will appear for Aryan Khan before the Bombay
High Court, ANI quoted the senior lawyer saying. Rohatgi is set to be Aryan
Khan’s lead counsel along with Satish Maneshinde at the hearing before Justice
Nitin Sambre. The Bombay High Court will also hear bail applications of Aryan’s
friend Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha.

Question of ‘conscious
possession’

One of the key
questions in the Aryan Khan case is that of conscious possession. While no
drugs were found on Aryan Khan after arrest, the NCB has argued that Aryan Khan
knew that his friend Arbaaz Merchant had 6 grams of charas in his
possession. The special NDPS court agreed with the NCB’s argument. NCB has alleged
that the two friends were planning to consume the substance.

Investigating officer Sameer Wankhede being probed

Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik has consistently questioned Sameer Wankhede’ motives in the Aryan Khan case. On Tuesday, Malik put up a post on Twitter claiming that a new letter has surfaced from an unknown person who has allegedly been an employee of the NCB which claims Sameer Wankhede received large sums of money from actresses including Deepika Padukone. Meanwhile, lawyer Sudha Dwivedi has filed an FIR against Sameer Wankhede alleging “extortion by threat of accusation of an offence”.
