Australia’s new Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who is set to be sworn in on Monday, has confirmed that he has plans to meet US President Joe Biden, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Tuesday.

According to AFP, which broke the news, Albanese will hold one-on-one meetings with the leaders of the US, India, and Japan in Tokyo, 24 hours after he is sworn in as Australia’s new leader.

All four leaders will be in Tokyo on Tuesday for a meeting of the Quad countries, consisting of the US, Japan, India, and Australia.

While the meeting is reportedly set to discuss the security situation in the Indo-Pacific in light of China’s growing military presence in the US, the one-on-one meetings between Albanese and the other countries’ leaders are expected to focus on bilateral ties under the new leader.
