BJP’s Bhupendra Patel was on Sunday elected as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat. The newly elected CM arrived at the governor’s house in Gandhinagar to meet Acharya Devvrat at Raj Bhavan.

As BJP’s selection of Bhupendra Patel as the new chief minister of Gujarat came as a surprise for many, it has surely brought happiness to his family members.

Speaking to ANI, Bhupendra Patel‘s daughter-in-law Devanshi Patel said, “It’s like Diwali today. This was never expected, a complete surprise for our family, even we saw it on news.”

It can be seen that this development comes ahead of the upcoming Gujarat polls that are scheduled to be held in 2022.

Following his appointment, congratulatory messages poured in.

“I congratulate Bhupendra Patel on his appointment as chief minister of Gujarat,” Vijay Rupani said.

“It is very good that Bhupendra Patel has been chosen to be the new Gujarat CM. Now BJP coming back to power in Gujarat is certain,” senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said.

Bhupendra Patel holds a diploma in civil engineering and is considered close to former CM Anandiben Patel, who won from the seat in the 2012 polls.

In 2017, Bhupendra Patel was the chairman of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority. He was chosen to contest his first election in 2017. Now, he is a surprise choice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the next Chief Minister of Gujarat.
