The Bhartiya Janata Party has won in 1,990 out of the 4,371 Panchayat Samiti seats in Rajasthan, Union Minister and BJP leader Prakash Javadekar said on Wednesday, ANI reported. According to the State Election Commission’s website, the BJP has won in 1,989 seats, while the ruling Congress has won 1,852.

The saffron party has also won in 353 out of the 636 Zila Parishad seats. Congress was able to win in 352 seats.

The election for both Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishads were held simultaneously. Polling was held in four phases in 21 districts of Ajmer, Banswara, Barmer, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Churu, Dungarpur, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sikar, Tonk and Udaipur.

It was held on November 23 and 27, and December 1 and 5.
