Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone of the new parliament building, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi recalled the time when he entered the parliament building for the first time in 2014.

” I can never forget the moment in my life when I had the opportunity to come to Parliament House for the first time in 2014 as an MP. Then before stepping into this temple of democracy, I had bowed my head and saluted this temple of democracy.”ANI quoted Modi as saying.

Modi also said that the new parliament building would become a witness to the creation of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’

“In old building, work to fulfill necessities of nation was done. In new building, ambitions of India of 21st century will be realised.” Modi added.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, foreign Envoys and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were also present at the ceremony.

The foundation stone of New Parliament Building was laid by PM Modi on Thursday in New Delhi where he also performed the ground-breaking ceremony in the presence of Pujaris from the Sringeri Math Karnataka.

The new building is the prime element of the 20,000 crore Central Vista project, which aims to build and renovate the government buildings on part of the 13.4-km Rajpath that stretches from the presidential palace Rashtrapati Bhavan to the iconic war memorial India Gate.
