Central Government on Wednesday extended the last date for linking of Aadhaar number with PAN from March 31 2021 to June 30, 2021, in view of the difficulties arising due to the COVID-19 pandemic, announced Income Tax Department of India

With that, the department also extended the date for issue of notice under section 148 of Income-tax Act,1961, passing of consequential order for direction issued by the Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP) & processing of equalisation levy statements also extended till April 30, 2021.

The announcement comes after reports of the Income Tax website crash on Wednesday, which was the previous deadline for the mandatory linking of PAN and Aadhaar.

After that, the Aadhaar website (UIDAI) also crashed on and the technical failure of government sites on the D-day left Twitter users frustrated as they attempted to do the needful.
