The last date to file Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for assessment year 2019-20 has been extended till November 30, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The decision was taken after “consideration of genuine difficulties being faced by taxpayers due to the COVID-19 situation,” CBDT said in a tweet.

The order in this regard was issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) under section 119(2)(a) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

The original deadline for furnishing ITRs was March 31, 2020, that was extended to June 30, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
