Ahead of January 4 talks with Centre, farmer unions on Saturday said that they will hold ‘Kisan Gantantra Parade’ on January 26 if a decision is not taken in their favour. They also warned of holding marches towards Governors’ houses in different states on January 23. So far, over 50 farmers have lost their lives in protest against the three farm laws, farmers’ leader Ashok Dhawale said. Upping the ante ahead of the next round of talks, farmer unions on Friday warned that they will start shutting all malls and petrol pumps in Haryana if the government fails to resolve their main demands for the repeal of three new farm laws. The agenda of talks for the protesting farmers includes repealing the farm laws and legal mechanisms that would be able to bring about legal guarantees on the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Mostly from Punjab and Haryana, thousands of farmers have been camping at three Delhi border points — Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri for over a month.
