The farmers’ protest entered day 61 on Monday. The Delhi Police had on Saturday allowed the protesting farmers to hold the proposed ‘Kisan Gantantra Parade’, following the meeting between the two sides.
According to PTI, around one lakh tractor-trolleys from all over India will take part in the protest. Covering a distance of more than 100 kilometres, the rally will begin after the official Republic Day parade will conclude.
The 11th round of talks between the Centre and the farmer unions on Friday remained inconclusive.
Thousands of farmers have been camped at various border sites around Delhi to protest against the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, enacted during the Monsoon session of the Parliament in September.
