Olympic medallist and Congress leader Vijender Singh distributed  food to protesting farmers
at Tikri Border on Friday
afternoon. Singh distributed food at a langar that was organised by the Jamindara
Student Organisation (JSO).

“We are here to
serve the farmers of our country. Our fight is not against the govt but the 3
black laws,” he said, ANI reported.

Thousands of farmers
have been protesting at various Delhi border points since last month, protesting against the new farm laws that were passed by the Parliament.

Several celebrities have shown their support to the
farmers. Amongst them is Vijender Singh, who also threatened to return his Rajiv
Gandhi Khel Ratna award if the demands of protesting farmers were not met by
the central government.

“Enough
is enough, if the government does not listen to the demands of the farmers,
then I have decided that as a show of solidarity, I will return my Khel Ratna,” Singh told PTI earlier this month when
he made an appearance at the protest site at
Delhi’s Singhu border.

“I come from a family of farmers and
army men, I can understand their pain and anxiety. It is high time that
government pays heed to their demands,” he
said, adding, “The award
definitely means a lot to me but we also have to take a stand for things we believe
it. If the crisis is resolved with talks, then we would all be happy.”
