Leaders of the world’s economic superpowers recently met at Cornwall, England, for the G7 Summit to discuss a range of global issues. The summit was the first face-to-face meeting of participating heads since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
The leaders have been criticised on social media, with many users claiming world leaders openly flouted COVID restrictions. Pictures of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Boris Johnson, Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron, among others, without masks are doing the round on social media.

According to India today, the summit was conducted in a COVID-secure manner and all participants were tested for COVID regularly. All the world leaders present at the summit were already vaccinated, at least partially. Some events were held outdoors and maximum participants were limited to 30.
Pictures of a beach barbeque after the second day of the summit also drew criticisms but UK confirmed it was done in an entirely COVID-secure way.
In a statement to “USA Today”, a UK cabinet spokesperson said, “All attendees and delegations have been required to follow UK public health regulations throughout the meeting. We’ve required them to respect strict Covid-secure measures, including daily testing before arrival and regularly throughout the Summit.”
