Hamirpur assembly constituency has Manoj Prajapati of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Ram Prakash Prajapati of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Ram Phool Nishad of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Rajkumari Singh of the Congress this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections

Ashok Kumar Singh Chandel had won the Hamirpur seat in 2017 when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Chandel had beaten his closest rival Dr Manoj Kumar Prajapati by a margin of 48,655 votes. Dr Manoj Kumar Prajapati had contested that election on an SP ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti of the BJP.

Hamirpur falls under the Hamirpur district and the Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats – two of these are in Hamirpur district, two in Mahoba, and one in Banda.

The Hamirpur assembly constituency will vote in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 20, 2022, along with 59 other constituencies in 16 districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3.

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
