India continues to hold second position in the annually updated ODI rankings of International Cricket Council (ICC), while slipping down a step to the third in T20.

In ODIs, India trail top-ranked New Zealand by six points,
while in T20, they stand five points away from the first position, occupied by England at present.

The rankings, as per ICC, are updated every year in the
beginning of May, and are calculated based on a team’s performance in the past
three years.

Rankings of all teams, therefore, will no longer be influenced
by their performance before May 1, 2018. Additionally, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020
season results will have a 50% weightage in determining the rankings, whereas
matches since May 1, 2020 will be given full weightage.

During this time, England have drawn a three-match T20
series against Pakistan, scored series wins against South Africa and Australia,
before losing 2-3 against India.

The T20 rankings also feature New Zealand, who came up to
the third position from fifth, while Australia dropped from third to fifth.

In ODI, India slipped to third from the second position, with
the top spot being occupied by new leaders New Zealand, who replaced England to
claim the first position.

New Zealand currently have 121 points. While Australia has 118.
India and England both have 115, but the former is placed ahead due to a difference
in decimal points.
