After an unidentified bag was found in the Ghazipur Flower Market in East Delhi, police were on high alert. Fire officials said that they received the information first at 10:19 AM, and a senior police officer stated that a ‘suspicious metal box’ was found, as per PTI reports.
The area was cordoned off, and the bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene.
An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered. Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana confirmed, “Based on the information received, an IED has been recovered”.
The bag was taken to open ground and buried in an eight feet deep pit.
Ultimately, the National Security Guard (NSG) carried out a controlled explosion of the IED. The Delhi police have said, “A case is being registered in the Delhi Police Special Cell under provisions of the Explosive Act”.
