The second flight carrying Indians stranded in Ukraine has landed in New Delhi, as the nation is in conflict with Russia. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia interacted with the nationals on board, welcoming them to the country.

In the video posted by ANI, he is heard saying that India will not have a good night’s sleep until all country people in Ukraine are brought back safely.

To that end, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has engaged in talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin. Modi also took the chance to take stock of the situation brewing between the countries and urged for a diplomatic solution.

The Civil Aviation Minister kept the interaction short, letting nationals know that the PM bid them welcome to the country. He encouraged them to meet their family and friends, who were waiting at the airport. The video ended with those on board chanting “Jai Hind” after Scindia managed to get in a word of thanks to the crew of the now Tata-owned Air India.

Earlier in the day, when a similar flight carrying Indian nationals landed in Mumbai, Union Minister Piyush Goyal was there to meet those on board. He had similar points but urged returnees to have the courage to share with fellow country people still in Ukraine.

Indian Ambassador to Ukraine Partha Satpathy said earlier in the day, as per PTI, “The government of India is completely seized with the matter. Every Indian will go back home. Planes are being lined up. Personnel is being lined up, but it’s a warzone. We will have to work out the logistics and find the modalities to reach the West. We have to be realistic about the situation. So, convey to your friends wherever they are in Ukraine that things will be fine”, and added, “My primary objective is to get you back to your parents, so that they feel relaxed and I don’t keep getting phone calls. But all of you have to be cooperative and be realistic of the current situation”.
