India registered 37,148 new cases on Monday, taking the total tally of COVID-19 infections to 11,55,191. With 587 new fatalities, the death toll in the country now stands at 28,084. Currently, there are 4,02,529 active cases in India while 7,24,578 have recovered, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Maharashtra, the worst hit Indian state by the coronavirus pandemic, registered 8,240 fresh cases taking the state’s COVID-19 tally rises to 3,18,695. 176 new deaths were recorded, taking state death toll to 12,030. Mumbai’s COVID-19 count is now 1,02,267 after addition of 1,043 new cases. The city’s toll is 5,752 after 41 deaths were registered on Monday. 

Delhi registered 954 new cases on Monday, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in national capital stands at 1,23,747 of which 1,04,918 have recovered. The recovery rate in Delhi isn  84%, said Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain.

Gujarat recorded single-day highest spike of 998 COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 49,439. The death toll is 2,167 after 20 more people died due to infection on Monday.

West Bengal recorded highest single-day spike with 2,282 COVID-19 taking the total tally to 44,769. The death toll in the state is now 1,147 with 35 more fatalities reported on Monday.

Andhra Pradesh’s COVID-19 tally crossed 50,000 mark with 4,074 fresh cases in past 24 hours. 54 deaths were reported taking the toll to 696.

Karnataka reported 3,648 new COVID-19 cases taking the total tally to 67,420.
