Sam Curran landed in the UAE to join the Chennai Super King team camp, much to the relief of the franchise’s fans who have been looking forward to having him reunite with Dhoni’s side for the remainder of the 2021 IPL season.

Despite having arrived well before the 2021 IPL resumes, Curran won’t be able to play the first contest against the Mumbai Indians.

The left-arm English bowler will have to undergo a six-day quarantine period before he can join his side.

Curran is a  regular member of CSK’s playing XI since joining the team in the IPL 2020 auction.

His scoresheet so far boasts of 186 runs and 13 wickets from the last season.

Earlier this year, in the Indian leg of IPL 2021, Curran hit 52 runs and dismissed 9 batsmen.

The fixture against the Mumbai Indians will be the first time since joining CSK that Curran will miss a fixture for the Yellow Army.

Meanwhile, Curran’s English teammate Moeen Ali arrived in Dubai three days prior along with the Indian players included in the Chennai squad.

While Faf du Plessis’ inclusion remains uncertain due to fitness issues, Sam Curran’s arrival is being seen as a positive sign.

However, his six-day quarantine period and Faf du Plessis’ injury might have just put CSK in the backseat going into the clash against the Mumbai Indians.

Faf du Plessis’ injury also led to his exclusion from the CPL semi-finals against Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR).

Plessis’s injury came as a massive setback for MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings which is scheduled to play its first match of the season’s second phase against the Mumbai Indians on September 19.
