An Australian all-rounder in Delhi Capitals’ squad has tested positive for COVID-19, a BCCI source told PTI on Monday. The team was supposed to travel to Pune for their next IPL 2022 tie against the Punjab Kings. But their plan has been delayed and Rishabh Pant and co will leave Mumbai only on Wednesday.

Only a couple days after Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart had tested positive for coronavirus, the team has reported one more case and the RT PCR result of one support staff, who was showing symptoms, is awaited.
The Australian player who tested positive for COVID-19, as per the PTI source, showed some symptoms before a Rapid Antigen Test was performed.
Interestingly, Delhi has only one Australian all-rounder – Mitchell Marsh.

“DC were supposed to travel to Pune today but the entire squad members have been told to retire to their respective rooms and as per protocol RT PCR is being done to ascertain whether there is an outbreak in the camp or it is an isolated case like Patrick Farhart,” a BCCI source told PTI on Monday.
The source added that only the players and support staff who test negative will travel with the team.
“All teams are staying at Conrad Hotel in Pune where BCCI has created a bio-bubble. They were supposed to travel but now it has been delayed. Obviously all those whose results would be negative would carry on with onward journey tomorrow,” the source said.

“We were supposed to leave today but have been told to stay in room until further notice,” said a team source, as per PTI.
In 2021, a COVID-19 outbreak across team camps had forced the tournament to be shifted to the UAE for a second leg in September-October. This year, with coronavirus cases in control, the BCCI had decided to conduct the IPL in India – in four venues.
