Fourteen years after playing and winning their first IPL final, Rajasthan Royals will be ready to take on the Gujarat Titans in the top-battle. The two sides will lock horns in the 2022 finale at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Gujarat and Rajasthan topped the points table this year. They defeated all top sides, performed consistently and rode on some brilliance throughout the season.

The Gujarat Titans come to the finals after beating the Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 1. The match was a close one. Hardik Pandya and co needed 16 runs off the last over when David Miller smashed three consecutive maximums.

“It has been a good season for me against spin. It has been something that I have worked hard on. I have never really felt that I struggled against spin, but it is an area I had to improve,” Miller said during the pre-match press conference ahead of the final. The Titans will also get some home support at Ahmedabad.

The Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, would want to win the cup for their first captain – late Shane Warne – who led them to the title in 2008. Sanju Samson and co come to the final after crushing Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Qualifier 2.

For them the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jos Buttler, Trent Boult have fired along with young guns Yashasvi Jaiswal and Prasidh Krishna.

It will be one hell of a battle where Buttler with 800-plus runs will not only fight a Lockie Ferguson or a Yash Dayal but also withstand crowd pressure: about 1,11,000 fans would be cheering for the hosts.
