Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat resigned from this post amidst reports that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is reportedly mulling a change of leadership in the state. Rawat submitted his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya on Tuesday, a day after he met BJP leaders in Delhi.

“The party gave me a golden opportunity to serve this State for four years. I had never thought that I would get such an opportunity. The party has now decided that the opportunity to serve as CM should be given to someone else now,” he said in a press conference after submitting his resignation, ANI reported.

Meanwhile, here are a few names doing rounds of possible frontrunners for the post – 

1. Dhan Singh Rawat: He is a state minister representing the constituency of Srinagar Garhwal.

2. Ajay Bhatt – The parliament member and senior BJP leader is also in the race for CM 

3. Anil Baluni – Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni is another probable for the post.
