The Union Cabinet approved a Rs 700 per bag hike in subsidy
for DAP fertiliser in June 2021 and the increase will result in an additional
cost of Rs 14,775 crore to the government. The hike was part of the government’s effort to ensure that
farmers gets the key soil nutrient at old rates despite rise in global prices. After urea, Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertiliser is the most
widely one in the country.The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime
Minister Narendra Modi.One bag has 50 kilograms of the fertiliser.
